AI processing. Your questions, photos, voice and vehicle details are sent to AI models, run by us or by AI service providers acting on our behalf, to generate responses. We may review conversations to check quality and safety.
Improving the Services. We may use conversations, ratings and outcomes, such as which parts were bought and kept, to improve our diagnostic accuracy and train our models. Where practical we de-identify this data first. De-identified and aggregated data is no longer personal information, and we may use it for any purpose.
Legal bases (EEA/UK users). We rely on contract (to provide the Services), legitimate interests (security, analytics, improvement), consent (marketing, certain cookies) and legal obligation.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers that process data for us under contract: cloud hosting and databases, authentication, AI model providers, payment processing, email and messaging, customer support chat, analytics and video tools.
- Sellers and shops you choose to deal with. When you buy a part or book a shop or expert, we share what's needed to complete it, such as your name, contact details, vehicle and order.
- Sidekick experts see the questions, photos and vehicle details you share in a session.
- Other users see what you post publicly, such as listings, forum posts and your profile name.
- Advertising and analytics partners receive device and usage data through cookies and pixels (Section 5).
- Your shop. If you are a shop customer, your shop controls the records it keeps in Service Writer.
- Legal and safety. To comply with law or legal process, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety and property of MotoSidekick, users or others.
- Business transfers. In a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, including due diligence, subject to confidentiality.
- With your consent or at your direction.
5. Cookies, pixels and analytics
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, SDKs and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand how the Services are used and measure and personalize ads. Some of these are run by advertising and analytics partners, who may collect information about your activity across other websites and apps over time and use it to measure and tailor ads.
Under some US state laws, sharing data with ad partners for targeted advertising can count as a "sale" or "sharing." You can opt out using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in our footer, and we honor Global Privacy Control browser signals. You can also block cookies in your browser and limit ad tracking in your device settings, though some features may not work.
Where required, such as in the EEA and UK, we ask for consent before setting non-essential cookies.
6. Retention and security
Retention. We keep personal information while your account is active and as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 90 days, except what we must keep for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute or safety reasons. Records of your acceptance of our Terms are kept for as long as they may be needed to enforce them. De-identified data may be kept indefinitely.
Security. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, such as encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information. Keep your password private.
7. Your choices and rights
Everyone can: update your account details, delete chats or your account in settings or by emailing support@motosidekick.com, unsubscribe from marketing using the link in any email, and opt out of targeted advertising (Section 5).
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to opt out of its sale, sharing or use for targeted advertising or profiling, to limit use of sensitive information, to withdraw consent, and to appeal if we deny a request. This includes residents of California and other US states with privacy laws, the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
How to ask. Email support@motosidekick.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will verify your identity before acting, and you can use an authorized agent where the law allows. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. EEA and UK residents can also complain to their local data protection authority.
India users. You can contact our Grievance Officer at support@motosidekick.com about how we handle your data, and may nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated.
8. Children, international transfers and shop data
Children. The Services are for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact support@motosidekick.com and we will delete it.
International transfers. We are based in the United States, and our team and service providers may process data in the US, India and other countries. Where required, we use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA, UK and Switzerland.
Shop data. When a shop uses Service Writer to store its own customers' information, the shop decides how that information is used, and we process it on the shop's behalf under our Data Processing Addendum. Shop customers should contact the shop directly with privacy requests; we will help the shop respond.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the Services before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
